Who she was

A young lawyer who loved her country

Fizza Tariq Malik was a 23-year-old advocate — the youngest child and only daughter of Mr Tariq Nasrullah Malik. She graduated in 2013 with an LL.B through the Islamabad School of Law under the external programme of Northumbria University, Newcastle, and joined the chamber of Advocate Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, assisting on criminal matters at the district courts.

She loved Pakistan so deeply that she declined the easier path of settling abroad. On the morning of 3 March 2014 she left home with a promise to her mother that she would be back soon. She never returned — and within hours her name was known across the world as the face of that day’s grief.

Her life, her honour, her legacy

اور اللہ کی راہ میں مارے جانے والوں کو ہرگز مردہ نہ سمجھو، بلکہ وہ اپنے رب کے پاس زندہ ہیں، رزق پاتے ہیں۔

And never think of those who have been killed in the cause of Allah as dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision.
